Ivory 1/232 on no26 Bellset .
Stunning unfaded former GPO table telephone dated 1955 complete with a rare No 26 Bellset & original connecting cord.
The telephone is without any damage no chips & no cracks a fine example for a 59 year old phone.
The Bellset has suffered cracking to the corner of the cable entry slot. A slot has been filed into the cover on one end which presumably was for a cable which would have been wired into the bellbox possibly when the bells were fitted to the wall. The slot would have enabled the cover to fit properly on the chassis.
The line in block to the Bellset ( grommet) is black & had been painted but is now flaking off , a replacement ivory grommet will be supplied with the phone at no extra cost. ( not available when photographed ). The original would have been left on the base plate attached to the wall when the telephone & cover were removed from the house by the GPO engineer during an upgrade. Possibly during the conversion to PSTN connections.( modern plug connectors).
We have kept the Bellset with the phone because of the perfect match. It is up to the buyer if they wish to stack the Bellset under the phone or separate from the table phone.
Examples of how this telephone can be presented are shown in the pictures.
The Bellset presents it self nicely even with the issues.
As stated a replacement grommet will be fitted to replace the black painted one & will finish off this telephone nicely.
Priced to reflect the Bellset issues but a lovely vintage collectable functional decorative item to add character to any home.
Please don't hesitate to call and discuss if you have any questions regarding this telephone.
